Our Colombia Tours

  • The Western Andes: Endemics and Adventure

The Western Andes of Colombia are spectacular. They offer the opportunity to explore the higher elevations where species such as Golden-headed Quetzal, Toucan Barbet, Club-winged Manakin and Lyre-tailed Nightjar are easy to find. And, with lower-elevation valleys within reach, we will spend time scouring the lowlands for Horned Screamers and antbirds. This tour offers a great sampling of Colombian birding and is sure to leave you wanting more.

  • The Central Andes: Elevation and Beauty

During this tour, we will explore the higher elevations of Manizales, the coffee producing region of Colombia. As we bird at increasingly higher elevations, we will search for rare and endemic species, visit private reserves to get amazing views of antpittas, mountain-toucans and tanagers, and luxuriate in hot springs in the evenings. The tour will culminate with a day spent at 13,000ft on the side of a snow-capped volcano looking for Black-chested Buzzard Eagles and the highly sought after endemic Buffy Helmetcrest.

  • The Colombian Amazon: Unexplored and Exciting

This tour is for those who want to feel like a true explorer. After a couple of days in Bogota, we will board a small plane and fly to the small Amazonian town of Mitu in eastern Colombia. Here we will spend 5 days birding in the some of the most bird-rich yet underexplored habitats in the country. With over 500 potential species, the lure of the Colombian Amazon is magical. Expect to find amazing birds and create lasting memories during this once-in-a-lifetime tour.
